Gymnastics For All Classes

At Weald Gymnastics, our Gymnastics for All programme offers fun, structured one hour weekly classes for school-aged children, taught by British Gymnastics trained coaches in our fully equipped specialist gymnastics centre in central Tonbridge. Open to complete beginners, every gymnast has the chance to use all our apparatus — including bars, beam, vault and sprung floor — while developing strength, coordination, confidence and a love of the sport.  With a welcoming environment and high-quality coaching, Weald Gymnastics is the perfect place for young people of all abilities to enjoy gymnastics and thrive.

Our gymnasts progress through our 12-level Weald Gymnastics Award Scheme, designed to develop core skills, confidence and safe technique across all apparatus. Each level introduces new challenges; from fundamental shapes and balance work to more advanced skills on floor, beam, bars and vault allowing gymnasts to advance at a pace that suits them. When a level is completed, we celebrate their success with a presentation of the official certificate, badge and a sticker recognising their hard work and giving them a clear sense of achievement. The award scheme not only motivates gymnasts but enables you to track their child’s development in a structured, positive way.

Registering for our classes is simple: just join our waiting list for claases held after school on Tuesday–Friday evenings and on Saturday mornings at our central Tonbridge gym. When a space becomes available, we’ll email you with an offer; please reply quickly to confirm. If the session isn’t suitable, just let us know and we’ll keep your child on the list for the next available place. Joining the waiting list is the best way to secure a spot in our high-demand gymnastics programme.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do classes run?

Our Gymnastics for All classes run after school on weekdays and on Saturdays, operating year-round, including most school holidays. We deliver around 48 sessions per year, with minor variations for bank holidays.

What is the cost and how do we pay?

Class fees are averaged across the year and paid monthly, for example £35.75 per month for our one-hour Gymnastics for All classes. Payments are collected automatically at the start of each month via our secure payment platform.
If you wish to cancel, please provide one full calendar month’s notice.

What other costs are there?

All gymnasts must join British Gymnastics (BG), our national governing body after their first two sessions with us. The annual BG membership fee (currently £24) is paid directly to British Gymnastics and includes accident insurance and a range of member benefits.

How do I cancel membership?

During your first month: You may cancel at any time by emailing info@wealdgymnastics.com.

After your first month: We require one full calendar month’s notice, also by email.

We do not tie families into termly contracts — we understand that circumstances and children’s interests can change.

Can my child start in a more advanced class?

Yes; if your child is transferring from another club or has prior experience, please register them first, then email us with details of their skill level and any competition results.
If at any time after joining you feel your child would benefit from a further challenge or would like to explore competitive gymnastics, speak to their coach and email us, we’re always happy to advise.

What Should my gymnast wear?

For their first sessions, children do not need specialist clothing, leggings/shorts and a T-shirt are perfect for beginners. Once settled, your gymnast may prefer to wear a leotard/unitard. Please speak to your coach to purchase our blue club leotard (currently £23)

Do you offer trial sessions?

We do not currently offer one-off tasters, as most classes are full and we don’t want children to be disappointed if we cannot offer a place.
Instead, when a space becomes available, your child will be offered a 2-week trial, giving them time to get to know the coaches, explore the equipment and decide whether gymnastics is right for them.

Can I watch the classes?

Due to limited space, routine viewing is not possible at present; however:

You may watch your child’s first session, and;

We arrange termly viewing days for each class.
We are also working on establishing a dedicated parent viewing area.

What are the progression opportunities?

All gymnasts can take part in our annual club competition, usually held in May.
Our coaches monitor progression closely, and when a gymnast is ready for more challenge, they may be invited to join an advanced or competitive pathway.
We offer:

Floor & Vault squads

Artistic (4-piece) squads

If your child is keen to compete more frequently, please email us so we’re aware of their goals.
